Welcome

Welcome to the Children’s Ministry Team! St. John’s Lutheran Church (SJLC) could not exist without the many people who give of their time in service to God and He has placed each of you here in children’s ministry with the potential to change lives! We are thrilled you are joining us to help families grow closer to Jesus.

The contribution you will make is crucial to the mission of our church. You can play an instrumental role in kids and parents finding their way to God. God is honored by your commitment and we’re confident He’s going to do an amazing work through you!

Mission and Vision

St. John’s exists to invite people into a deep meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another, and to be the heart, hands, and feet of Jesus in the world so that all will know they are loved. We see St. John’s filled with diverse people living relevant lives expressed by their vital faith and compassionate acts of love. The Children’s Ministry mirrors this vision and opens our doors and hearts to all children. You can feel comfortable bringing your children to this safe loving environment and allowing them to build relationships with one another and with our Savior, Jesus Christ. All of our lessons are age appropriate and filled with fun and meaningful messages of hope and love.

Culture and Values

Our values describe and prescribe qualities we want to create in our community as we live into our mission and vision.

  • We are a church centered on Jesus and centered on scripture
  • Our lives are based on pursuing a healthy, vital today so we may thrive tomorrow
  • Our lives are shaped in the authentic Christian community as a necessary context in which spiritual growth can occur.
  • We choose to believe the best about others
  • Our faith is expressed through action as empowered by the Holy Spirit to express God’s love compassion and justice in our world.
  • We live as the hand's feet and heart of Jesus
  • We reflect the diversity of God’s family that surrounds us, appreciating all God’s people in joy SJLC holds these values not as a set of rules, but a standard to which we have been called
Children's Ministry Mission

Children’s Ministry is a place where children can get excited about Jesus Christ – a place where children have so much fun learning how awesome God is, that they don’t want to miss a single week! Our mission is to bring children closer to Jesus.

Curriculum

The two greatest commandments given by our Lord Jesus are to love God with all that we are and to love others as He loves us. Our curriculum will always be designed to give our children an understanding of the flow of Bible events, so they are able to know God and recognize how He has worked throughout history to restore a loving and right relationship with his people.

Sunday School

Sunday School for ages 3 to 10 is offered every Sunday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Meet in the Fellowship Hall for an interactive, exciting opportunity for children to learn about the love of Jesus.  We offer a clean, safe, loving environment for children.  Parents can have peace of mind that their children will be cared for while they enjoy their friends and grow their faith.  Activities for children are coordinated by a staff of incredible volunteers and a leadership team who want to know each child personally – building a relationship that helps reinforce faith and truth in a Savior who loves them.  Parents are welcome to stay or spend time in fellowship or worship.
